Up to date

I can not think in any other discipline in which being up to date is as important as in medicine. My goal is to be able to give my patients the available choices for their issues on the date that they are coming to visit me. This fact can be challenging, especially when you deal with pathologies that are constantly moving on.

I guess this is the reason why sometimes, you have to choose a subspecialty, that allows you to be focus in a smaller amount of topics, and to get the technical skills needed to face the problem.

I used to have a mentor that once told me: "An specialist is the person who knows each day more about a smaller field, until he ends up knowing everything about nothing". I wonder if he was right...
